Travel Sentry x Alibaba Group
Social campaign assets for a launch event in Asia
Project Description
To create a distinctive narrative led marketing asset that celebrated Travel Sentry’s global travel security legacy while elevating the excitement of Alibaba Group's Tmall 2025 launch event for the Chinese market.
Travel Sentry partnered with Alibaba Group to create marketing assets for the 2025 Luggage Super Category Day, placing their lock system at the centre of a celebratory moment for Chinese shoppers. The brief called for a fresh, culturally resonant visual story featuring the beloved Tmall mascot, Mao Tiantian.
Creative foundation.
I began by analysing Travel Sentry’s brand equity and the expectations of Tmall’s audience, grounding the narrative in recognisable symbols of trust, security and adventure. Using principles from character design and experience storytelling, I framed a journey that positioned Mao Tiantian as a playful guide travelling through the dramatic Yangshuo mountains, connecting the cultural landscape with the theme of secure and joyful travel.
Working in Freepik’s Flux Kontext, I generated the initial visual concepts, focusing on stylised cinematic framing and cohesive world building. Each shot was refined through iterative prompt testing to capture the distinctive limestone peaks and the warm, optimistic tone required for the event. I then enhanced every frame in Photoshop, retouching details and applying consistent colour treatments to ensure brand fidelity and visual cohesion.

Hybrid production craft.
With the core imagery established, I used Kling 2.1 for image to video generation, carefully orchestrating motion transitions that preserved the illustrative aesthetic. This allowed the story to move fluidly from scene to scene while maintaining a crafted, hand touched quality. The blend of AI automation and manual refinement ensured the film felt polished rather than procedural.
I then brought the assets into After Effects where I completed all compositing, masking and animation work. Using green screen workflows, I integrated the character animation with moving balloon elements and manually keyframed additional movements for added charm, control and realism. This phase allowed me to finesse timing, enhance depth through layered motion graphics and deliver a cohesive final sequence ready for event promotion.
The finished film delivered an engaging, culturally attuned story that brought the collaboration between Travel Sentry and Tmall to life. By merging AI generation with traditional craft, the project achieved a high quality narrative asset that elevated the launch event, showcased the brand partnership and demonstrated a modern creative approach to global marketing storytelling.
